U.S. Diversity Visa Lottery 2027

The registration for DV Lottery 2027, commonly known as the Green Card Lottery, is administered by the U.S. Department of State. The goal of this initiative is to provide visas to individuals from countries with low immigration rates to the United States. Through the Electronic Diversity Visa Program, an annual lottery system allocates 55,000 visas to eligible participants. If selected in the lottery, individuals are eligible to apply for a permanent resident visa with their family, commonly known as a green card, which allows them to live and work in the United States. Unlike any geographic location, the DV Lottery Program is not administered through a specific facility. Instead, the U.S. Department of State administers the program through its consular offices worldwide. These consular offices play a key role in processing DV Lottery applications and issuing visas to eligible individuals.

To qualify for participation in the DV lottery, you need to fulfill the following criteria

Country of Origin

You must be a native of a qualifying country. Annually, the U.S. Department of State (DOS) releases a list of eligible countries, determined by the number of immigrants from each country who received visas in the preceding five years.

Educational or Work Experience

Possess at least a high school education or its equivalent, or alternatively, have two years of work experience in an occupation requiring a minimum of two years of training or experience.

Diversity Immigrant Status

Fulfill the definition of a "diversity immigrant," signifying your status as a native of an eligible country while not having immediate family members residing in the United States as permanent residents or citizens.

Satisfy all other prerequisites for obtaining a U.S. immigrant visa, demonstrating admissibility to the United States according to U.S. immigration law. It's crucial to note that the DV lottery is highly competitive, and meeting these eligibility requirements does not guarantee selection. Complete the Online Application

Access the DV lottery application online through the Department of State's website. Provide basic personal information such as your name, date of birth, and place of birth. Additionally, submit a digital photograph meeting the program's requirements.

Submit Your Application

After completing the online application, submit it through the Department of State's website. There is no fee to apply for the DV lottery.

Wait for Results

The State Department randomly selects DV Lottery winners through a computer-generated process. If you are selected, you will be notified via the email address provided on your application in May 2026.
